Wedding Day - 19

And we're pretty much there... Finally I hear you cry! Or perhaps that's just me! Anyway, here's some dancing pictures. We had a disco to round the day off, a way to let off steam perhaps. I was pretty drunk by that point though! It was great great fun all the same. Enjoy!

"Choose your own award"

I am feeling very very honoured as the amazing Redframe, now Model Mentality gave me a choice of awards! So first to say thank-you so very much to her, she is a wonderful person, full of kindness and love and she was one of the very first people to visit me and support me in my blogging for which I am truly grateful. And now I recommend you all go visit her blogs if you haven't already!

I don't like choosing, especially not when it's nearing the end of the working day so I'm going to put all three on and hope that somehow you might think just one applies to my little blog.

These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.

1. Put the logo on your blog or post.
2. Nominate at least 10 blogs which show great attitude and/or gratitude.
3. Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.
4. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
5. Share the love and link to this post and to the person from whom you received the award.
The Uber Amazing Blog Award is a blog award given to sites who:

- inspire you
- make you smile and laugh

- are a great read
- have an amazing design

The rules of this award are:

Put the logo on your blog or post
Nominate at least 5 blogs that for you are Uber Amazing!
Let them know that they have received this Uber Amazing award by commenting on their blog

Share the love and link to this post and to the person you received your award from.

So to pass on the love I am nominating anyone who would like any of these awards. Please just let me know which one you choose so I can pop over and see it shining on your blog!

Photo Book

I received our photo book today. And love it! We ordered from Photobox, who were quite easy to use once we got used to it. My one criticism is that the layout is a little bit limited in some places but I am so very pleased with how it came out and would recommend them to you if that's what you're looking for!

Also thanks to Rachel from Peacock Feathers & Diamond Rings for recommending them to me!

100th post!

Wow! Can't believe it's been 100 posts. That seems like a lot. I know it's not but for someone who still feels like a fledgling blogger it sure is to me :)

So I thought I'd use this post as a summary post. A summary of some of my thoughts about my wedding...

I will always remember my wedding day as one of the happiest days of my life. I don't think I stopped smiling, I remember people saying to me that I looked so happy and at no point did I not feel wonderful

It was also a day of rollercoaster emotions, nerves, happiness, love, warmth, exhilaration, relief and many more

On the day the little details just didn't matter

You can't buy atmosphere, the people you choose to share your wedding day with are the most important decisions you will make, as they are what makes your day

I feel incredibly lucky, to have such an amazing husband and loving family and friends

Photos take a long time

I remember before the wedding thinking I must enjoy being a bride and letting people lavish attention on me and do things for me. That's what I did and boy was it worth it, hopefully it will be only once you get this experience

I was so pleased I did parts of the wedding myself, the cake, the bridesmaids' wraps and the stationery. It was worth it to see it all on the day and feel pride in having done that

Good suppliers are essential, my florist was amazing, our venue superb and the church wonderful

I guess that's it. If anyone has any questions about how I did anything or anything about the wedding let me know. There will be one final recap - the dancing! And then my wedding shall be put to bed for a while. For me to treasure the memories I created with my husband.

Any finally, thank-you to those amazing bloggers out there who supported me through out the planning process. All your kind words, helpful suggestions and beautiful blogs were so very inspiring and mean a huge amount to me.

Much love, London Bride x

Our suppliers were:
Florist - Dover Flowers
Reception venue - Lansdowne Club
Church - St Georges Hanover Square
Dress - Mirror Mirror Bridal

Wedding Day - 18

Sme of my favourite photos from the day are these cake cutting photos. You may remember I made the cake, fruit on the bottom, victoria sponge on the top. And it all got eaten on the night, which was just what I wanted :)

Wedding Day - 17

After the Wedding Breakfast we had speeches. We semi broke with tradition and had the following:
Father of the bride (about the bride)
Groom (thanks and a little about the bride)
Best Man (about the groom)
Friend of the Couple (about us as a couple)

I was so very pleased we went with four speeches. In fact this is one part of the day I remember with such warmth and happiness. The speeches were amazing. My father's was very touching and amusing. J's was just so very moving. He remembered that a while back I had asked him about which of my foibles he loved and he could never think of anything. So in part of his speech he told me a foible for each year we've been together (6 so far) that he loved, from my hoarding, to my love of shoes, monkeys etc. I cried, I laughed, I realised again why I was marrying him.

J's best man was his brother, who again did a wonderful speech, one which was very personal to us all. Finally we had our friend A talk. He talked about what made us work as a couple and here is a short excerpt from his speech:

"All of this makes two things clear to me. Why it is I am friends with both J and Marie but also why they are married today. They are an engaging, open and warm couple, who are always ready to share a joke and a bottle of wine. They are loyal to those close to them and value loyalty in return. Crucially, they understand the importance of partnership in making a relationship work. They are truly fortunate to have met each other, but recognise that relationships are not built on luck, rather love."

I think the photos tell the rest of the story. The smiles, the applause and mostly the laughter.

Wedding Day - 16

And on to the wedding breakfast. We hustled people into the room so it could all start on time and then waited outside to be announced in, my father announced us, to be honest I've no idea what he said, all I remember is the joy of being clapped into a room! That had never happened to me before, and I suspect never will again... But it was an amazing moment.

I had ummed and aahed for a long time about a long top table versus a round one but in the end went for long. Which I was really pleased with. It's nice to be able to watch your guests during dinner and I think also for them to see you. Plus it's much better for the speeches.

The other thing you can finally see is the reception venue in most of it's glory! Although not quite the balconies with the pretty fairy lights hanging from them. We also used this room for the dancing later on in the evening, just shifting the tables down the room to allow space for a dance floor. And space for seating for those not too keen on dancing!

Wedding Day - 15

By the time we'd run around the club feeling very glamorous and being photographed our guests had arrived at the reception. So we tried to gather them all together for some group photos, not as easy as hoped seeing as we hadn't warned them this was what we were planning so lots had disappeared for a quick freshen up!

I like these pictures for being able to see everyone but if we had done it again I think we would have moved the big table that got in the way!

Almost over

I'm almost done on the recaps and think that once they're over this blog will be done. But I've enjoyed blogging so much and getting to know so many lovely people so I'm going to try and continue but in a new guise. It would be lovely to see some of you over at my new blog Wife in the City

Otherwise about one more post and then the wedding will be over. Thank-you to everyone who has joined me on this journey and I couldn't have asked for more support and warmth as I have received.

Much love LB xx

Wedding Day - 14

We took the opportunity of arriving at the reception venue earlier than our guests to go around quickly with our photographers. This allowed us to grab some time together and get some couple shots. Here are my two favourite from then...

My photographers were lovely and the mirror and being able to see the whole of my dress, so I was really pleased with the one below because you can see the back of the dress, which was one of my favourite parts!
